Lew Shelton  The Reverend Lewis Shelton Appointed Acting President

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Lewis Shelton as acting president of Bethany University, effective August 11, 2008.

The Reverend Shelton and his wife, Margaret, have deep connections with Bethany. Both are members of the 1968 graduating class and have maintained close relationships with the University over the years. The Reverend Shelton was honored as Alumnus of the Year in 2006.

The Sheltons have served Assemblies of God churches in Northern California and Oregon in a variety of ministerial roles, from associate pastors to music ministers to senior pastors. Most recently, they concluded 22 years as senior pastors of First Assembly of God in Albany, Oregon.

The Reverend Shelton has extensive leadership experience, having served on numerous boards within the Assemblies of God, including the Bethany University Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of the School of Urban Missions in Oakland, California. The Reverend Shelton holds the Master of Arts in Biblical Literature from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri.

The Sheltons' long history within the Assemblies of God, their deep experience in leadership, and their commitment to higher education equips them well to serve Bethany at this crucial juncture.

The entire Bethany University constituency welcomes the Reverend Lewis and Margaret Shelton into the Bethany community!
